Modified Citrus Pectin (MCP) is a
soluble form of citrus pectin in which the long chain polysaccharides have
been rearranged into groups or arrays of the sugar galactose.
Research has discovered that in these fragmented unbranched chains
(obtained by a slow, expensive pH controlled process) rather than the longer
chain lengths of common citrus pectins, the sugars bind themselves to
lectins, which are proteins on the surface of cancer cells which
specifically seek out galactose. Recent studies have indicated the
?anti-adhesive? effects of MCP extends to a variety of different malignant
cell lines.
MCP has scientifically modified pH
for optimal absorption and utilization of the crucial polysaccharides rich
in galactosyl moieties.
