L-Carnitine is an amino acid found in high concentrations
in human heart and liver tissue, where it participates in metabolizing fatty
acids into energy by the mitochondria.
L-Carnitine also facilitates the metabolism of carbohydrates and
enhances the rate of oxidative phosphorylation (ATP or energy production).
L-Carnitine works synergistically
with CO-Q10, an antioxidant found in the inner membrane of the mitochondria.
While L-Carnitine supplements can degrade rapidly, L-Carnitine Tartrate is a
superior stabilized form.
